Gifts. You had to have known that was coming, right? We’ve talked about Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch, and Acts of Service. It only makes sense that somewhere in the category of Love Languages you would gifts.
Can I be honest with you? I used to really despise this love language. Many experiences had taught me that gifts were more of an apology than a genuine blessing. And that mentality stuck with me through most of my infant years of marriage. But I couldn’t have been more wrong!
You know what I LOVE about this love language? It requires the giver to be mindful of the receiver; who they are as a person, what they appreciate, what they enjoy, and what they value. As someone who deeply treasures relationships, that’s something that is really important to me. So although gifts didn’t have much of a place in my marriage before, they do now!

The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts

And don’t worry, you don’t have to break the bank to use this love language effectively. I’m not talking about showering your man with the newest, fanciest, best of everything (although if you have the budget, why not). No, I’m talking about practical, thoughtful giving that your man can appreciate. With this love language, it’s more the thought that counts. So, say you’re grocery shopping, grocery list in hand, and as you are approaching the check out counter you notice your husband’s FAVORITE snack is on sale. It’s not on your list, but you just know it would make his day. Do you get it for him? Today you do. Just to bless him. Just because you love him. Because you know it will put a smile on his face. Not sure where to start? Check out some of these simple gift giving ideas that can make your man feel loved.
